Horn Cutting Tools has funded a high technology kayak and other equipment for 2012 Olympic hopeful Beth Latham
Horn Cutting Tools Ltd has entered the world of sports sponsorship by contributing £1500 to fund a high technology kayak and paddles for Yorkshire-based Bethan Latham, one of the rising stars of UK canoe slalom.
Mike Green, general manager of Horn Cutting Tools Ltd. comments. “Paul Horn GmbH has a strong history of sports sponsorship in Germany and we are keen to carry on this tradition in the UK. Beth exemplifies many of the best qualities of today’s youngsters and we are delighted to be able to help her along the road to success.”
In June 2008 Beth became British J16 K1W canoe slalom champion – at the age of 15. Subsequently she became possibly the youngest competitor ever to represent Great Britain in this demanding sport at international level, racing in the 2008 European and World Junior Championships.
The new boat has been custom built by Nomad, widely acknowledged within the canoe slalom fraternity as being the UK’s top builder. It will help Beth to maximize her potential during the 2009 season en route to the ultimate goal which is a place in the GB team for the 2012 Olympics.
Ongoing participation in the GB World Class Junior Programme requires huge personal dedication. It also demands significant investment of time and money by the Latham family to fund equipment, travel and accommodation for events and training.
Beth has high hopes of the new Horn-sponsored boat saying. “I really appreciate Horn’s support for 2009. It means I’ll be entering races knowing that I have the best boat in the race. That’s a great feeling to have and it’s sure to help me to focus on getting the job done.”
